Tony was taught to play the pipes by Tony Spittle, a school teacher in Luton. He joined the Luton Pipe Band at the age of 14 and was encouraged by his father, who as a youngster played for St Francis Pipe Band, Glasgow before the 2nd World War.

From 1993 to 1998 he played under PM Dixie Ingram with Scots Guards Association Pipe Band, returning to Luton in 1998 to play for University of Luton Pipe Band and has remained here since.

Highlights have been helping achieve Grade 2 status for the University of Luton/Bedfordshire Pipe Band and winning a World title as Pipe Major of the Grade 4B band in 2007.
