UBPB Member Profile - Michelle McIntosh Michelle started drumming in October 2006 with the Grampian Corby Pipe Band. She started out learning the side drum, where she showed a natural ability for it. In 2007, 3 weeks prior to the full band competition, held at Stotfold, Michelle was asked to step in at the last minute and take over from one of the tenor drummers at the Grampian as the Bass Drummer was injured and the other tenor had to move onto the bass. A daunting task, but one that Michelle took up with great enthusiasm. 3 weeks later she competed alongside her sister, Kayleigh and helped the drum corps win best drum corps on the day. After that Michelle has never looked back, her natural talent for the tenor helped her decision to stay as a tenor drummer. In November 2007, Michelle, like her sister, made the big jump to Grade 2 and joined the University of Bedfordshire Pipe Band. A move which she has never looked back on. Michelle's biggest achievements to date are being part of the Drum Corps that won the English Championships in Grade 2 and 1 in July 2008 and she also assisted fellow band member, Lara McNeil, in conducting a tenor seminar in Bideford in September 2008. |
