UBPB Member Profile - Pipe Sergeant, David Doherty

Dave started playing at the age of 11, his first teacher was Tony Spittle and after this grounding Bill Steele did his best!

He played for the Luton Band from the late 1970's until 1993 when he joined Dixie Ingram's Scots Guards Association band in Windsor. He says "This took my ability to blow flat to a completely new level".

By 1998 he was back with the University of Luton Pipe Band and has been Pipe Sergeant since 2000.

David's worst piping moment - "Not sure of exact date but Glasgow August 2001".

His Best moment - "Same day, but don't tell the drummers!!"

David says that he is..... "Probably best known for looking at the positive in everything, always being open to change, even when then is no reason for it at all!!!"
